Want to do internal engine work on a Nissan altima 2008. The engine rattling badly, but car runs. Do I need to install a new engine or rebuilt one, how much is approximate cost? The basic and power train warranty voided by Nissan due to water damage to car. The engine is 2.5 L. and the car is Nissan Altima Hybrid, 2008 with 22K miles. The hybrid system is still under Nissan warranty.
A: If the water damage is the cause of your engine troubles, your auto insurance should cover it.

Can anyone please give me step by step instructions, or a website with the instructions for the replacement of a power antenna for a Nissan Altima GXE 1997?
Also, will a universal replacement antenna work? If so, which one? Or should I buy the factory Nissan model?
A: When I replaced the antenna on my 94 Altima, which is the same body style at the 97's I bought one from the local salvage yard for like $10, and that was a year ago & its still working great. To replace it, it isn't that difficult. Open the trunk and on the passanger side where the antenna is, pull down the carpet on that side and all, and you'll be able to access the antenna motor. Unplug & unbolt the old one, slid the whole unit out & slide the new one in place, bolt it in, plug it in. Isn't to big if a deal if you know enough about cars on how to unplug something & how to pull down the carpet & crap on the sides of the trunks and you have basic tools & know how on using them.
Q: Can you remove the spoiler on the nissan altima?
I am thinking about purchasing a 2004 Nissan Altima,
but I really don't like the spoiler thing on the back and I am wondering if there is an way to get that removed?

A: Holes can be filled Body shop for $200 approx. I would leave the spoiler alone. It cost extra and really does not do a thing.

My family has the chance to get a new car. It's between a 09 Mitsubishi Lancer (any model) and a 09 Nissan Altima (any model). In my opinion the Lancer looks and seems better. My mom wants the Altima. Which is better?
A: the altima is a better car in general.
the mitsubishi isn't well built, or well engineered. It has low resale value, low reliability ratings, high insurance premiums, and it lacks in power.
the altima has better resale value, a better ride, more power, more room, and a higher quality interior.
Q: Installing a set of speakers in my Nissan Altima?
I have a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5S model. Now the front doors have 6.5 inch round factory speakers installed. Now, the back doors dont have speakers but have an opening to install speakers. If anyone has an altima without the bose system then you know what the openings look like. If anyone knows, is it possible to install speakers in these openings? Thanks.
A: ok i'm telling you this cuz i did it to my car i have an 02 altima 2.5s wich is exactly like yours its just the year that changes you can put speakers in the back doors but see they wont be able to fit in the hole that is in the door cuz the door panel has a groove so when you put the speaker grill it wont go down right so heres what you do the door it self has another hole right next to it but it has like a foam on it pull that out mesurte a whole cut it and drill the speaker and grill on to the door panel then all you do is put the panel back on the door you also are going to have to run wire so you can plug it into the stereo cuz there isnt any on the door it sounds kind of complicated but this is the way that works best unless you want to buy a door panel from the dealer and then it would just be a plug and play but you are still going to have to run wire for the speakers also if you are able to get a shop to fill in the gap with a molding for the grill then you might be able to put it in the original spot well how ever you want to do it is up to you i just wanted to give you something to think about well good luck

why recommended spark plugs for 02 nissan altima are so long they seem to be deep in cylinder and they corode and they are hard to remove. with possibility of stripping threads brrrrr....

thanks for your responce but I have researched the sparkplugs starting in nissan and ending on NGK website. and the plug I pulled out is the recommended one,
they all recommend 14mm thread 26.5mm long thread.
which is 1.04 inch from which about a .250-.375 of that is burned, which suggests that the plug is that deep in cylinder.
and get fired at. now this woulndt be a problem for me untill you try to unscrew the plug, through the burned threads.
Im trying to figure out the reason for it.

they sell it for less and you will save money
they recommend NGK cause their Nissan engines are very picky in brand
NGK is the world leader in spark plugs which is the best
so Nissan engines have some problem with other brands because of the spark plugs firing power and material is different
so should get some NGKs and the specific model number for better car performance

A: '07? should be under warranty...and omg, i can't believe it's already having problems! Nissans used to be such good cars....my '87 nissan d21 pickup still runs and can buy beer too!

I just bought a 2008 Nissan Altima with a cvt motor. There seems to be a vibration though. It's on and off. The dealer that I bought the vehicle from told me it was normal because of the cvt motor. Everyone else i've spoke with disagrees.
A: Have the same thing in my 2007 maxima, its at lower rps right ? Nissan considers this "normal " so nothing to worry about it its the CVT, which i learned to hate eghhh

A: 3rd is like one gear lower? actually just use drive most the time and 3rd when stuck in town traffic. The manual shift fearure is entertaining too. There is a book in the glove box yoou have not studied yet take it out and learn the features of your investment.

Does anyone know where in the internet i can see a instrution manual or a video about how to install a grill for an 08 nissan altima, i am planning on installing it myself. Q: What is a Smart Key for a Nissan Altima?
I am looking to buy a 2008 Nissan Altima, and the salesman showed me the smart key, but I didn't even think about it because I thought it was just the regular remote to lock/unlock. What is the Smart Key? There was a little button on the door handle that he presses to unlock the doors, but I'm just trying to figure the whole thing out. Thanks for the help.
A: its an electronic key...if the remote is within 3ft or so of the ignition, the car will start with your foot on the brake and a push of a button. its cool cause you can leave the key in you pocket the whole time and then you wont lock your key accidently in the car.
the problem is that if something breaks out of warranty, its even more expensive to replace than a coded key

A: You have a wealth of salvage yards close by. Just check the Yellow Pages (local library, if necessary) under:
Automobiles--Parts--Used and Rebuilt.
I'd first try the ones that say that they specialize in import cars. And shop a little. Call, ask for a price for your year and make, which side door, etc. Thank them, hang up, write them and their quote down, and call the next one.
